Ford Motor Company won both the North American Car and Truck of the year awards, presented on Monday, January 11, 2010. In addition, the Ford Fusion Hybrid won the Car of the Year, and also, the Ford Transit Connect van won the Truck of the year, crowning Ford as the maker that swept multiple awards. Mark Fields, the president of Ford's Americas division said about their winnings, "Winning both of these prestigious awards is confirmation that the ONE Ford plan is working, delivering industry-leading products for our customers."

It is said that the major plan for the next year of Ford cars to not make so many different models for different markets but instead to sell the vehicles on a global market. As we are proud to say that Ford is a domestic automaker, it has gained market shares last year. CNN reports that this is possibly due to the fact that Ford Motor Company was the only car that that did not have to go through bankruptcy. However, as the fuel economy is increasing and also as Consumer Report said that that Ford is on world class for dependability for its cars.

Also at the auto show, Ford had released the Fusion hybrid. This car is a hybrid, gas and electric version of the popular mid-sized sedan, Ford Fusion. This car gets 41 miles per gallon on regular streets and 36 miles per gallon on the highway. This car was awarded the Motor Trend car of the year at the tail end of last year.
